Fire Box - 2206

At 18:17 hours the Company was alerted for a field fire in the 1000 block of Wickerton Road in the Chesterville section of Franklin Township. With members already at the 'City House' (Station 22); Engine 22 with four volunteers and Tanker 22 with two hit the street seconds after the dispatch. Brush 12 with three and Engine 32 with two volunteers on each followed up. Ambulance 22-1 and 12-1 also made the response.

As Engine 22 made the turn onto Wickerton Road the smoke could be seen. Engine 22 arrived first, noticing that access would be tough from the closest driveway it was determined that the Engine would take a blocking position on Wickerton Road (PA State Route 841) and the crew deployed 200' of 1" booster line to make the attack. Deputy 22 took the Command and stated the proper address followed by the size of fire. Fire Police secured the scene by closing both lanes of 841 between Hunting Hills Drive and Old School House Road so members could operate at the scene.

Tanker 22 was next to arrive and nosed into Engine 22 to hook up and provide a water supply if needed. Brush 12 took the driveway and made access across the field to stretch their own 200' 1" booster line. Engine 32 arrived and took the driveway to provide water for Brush 12. Crews used rakes and shovels to contain the fire and quick work was made.

Crews operated on scene for about 45 minutes until they all returned.

Units: Engine 22, Engine 32, Tanker 22, Brush 12, Ambulance 22-1, Ambulance 12-1, Fire Police
