On Tuesday November 4th at 0755the West Grove Fire Company along with Medic 94-1, Medic 194 and Ambulance 21-3 were dispatched for an accident with entrapment on Jennersville Road (RT 796) North of Ledum Run Rd. The accident was reported as one vehicle on top of the other with 2 trapped. Rescue 22, Rescue 12, Engine 32, Amb 22-1, Amb 22-2, Amb 21-3, Medic 94-1, Medic 194-1 West Grove Fire Police and Assistant 22 all made the response within minutes of dispatch. Amb 22-2 went on scene at and confirmed 2 trapped. Squad 22 and Brush 12 made the response for scene support.

Rescue 12 and Rescue 22 started the complex extrication while Assistant 22 established Route 796 command. The crews quickly and safely removed the victims from the wreckage. The first victim was removed at 8:10 with serious leg injuries. The second victim took more time as they were trapped in the car with the van on top of it. After extensive stabilization requiring struts and securing the vehicle to a telephone pole the door was displaced on the car and the second victim was extricated at 8:22 also with serious leg injuries. Both victims were transported to Christiana Hospital for further treatment.

The fire police had the road shut down for the safety of the responders while the extrication was taking place, vehicles were removed and the roadway cleared of debris. All units cleared the scene at 9:17.
