WGFC members completed a 9 hour hose deployment and management training module consisting of three sessions. Each session concentrated on the basics of quick and efficient deployment of hose lines that may be too long or too short. Members drilled on techniques to position long lengths of hose in very tight spaces while not compromising the flow of water through the line. Techniques to quickly add additional hose to a line was reviewed and practiced. Members drilled on the coordinated team approach of moving a charged hose line through a dwelling to the seat of the fire. The final session concluded with a full speed drill using all techniques to perform a transitional fire attack on a simulated dwelling fire.

The transitional fire attack consists of cooling a well involved room from the outside of the building prior to making entry into the burning room to finish extinguishment. This type of attack requires a high level of teamwork to apply water from the outside quickly while preparing the hose line and personnel for the interior attack quickly to follow.

Every fire presents unique obstacles in getting water on the fire quickly, members were presented scenarios that tested their ability to use their techniques and resources effectively as a team. The commitment of the WGFC to learn and provide the highest level of public safety was apparent with an average attendance of 22 members per-session.
