On June 1st, at 5:44am, the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to an automobile fire on the Route 1 Bypass. A passerby called 911 stating they saw heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment. Chief 22 went enroute within one minute and was given updated information that there are flames coming from the engine. Engine 22-1 went enroute shortly thereafter. Chief 22 arrived onscene and confirmed a working car fire on the Bypass, southbound, at the Route 841 exit ramp. Engine 22 arrived right behind, and deployed and 1 ¾” handline and began attacking the fire. The flames were quickly knocked down and contained to just the engine compartment. Rescue 22 and Tanker 22 arrived and assisted with manpower support. The incident was placed under control 5 minutes after the first engine’s arrival, and the Chief downgraded the assignment to the units on the scene. Engine 22-2 and Utility 22 were enroute, but were returned to their respective quarters.

Once the fire was extinguished, the Engine and Rescue crew repacked the attack hose and cleaned up the scene. In total, Engine 22 only used 250 gallons of water. Chief 22 closed out the incident at 6:13am.
