Santa Has Been Busy with the WGFC in Avon Grove!

By Secretary Bill Wohl
December 14, 2018

Boys and girls of all ages have had a chance to tell Santa what they want for Christmas, as he has visited communities all around Avon Grove on the bright yellow fire trucks of the West Grove Fire Company since Thanksgiving.

Each year, the volunteers of the WGFC escort Santa into the neighborhoods and developments of the nearly 65 square miles of territory served by our fire company. This year, Santa will make 34 runs out into the community, and have a chance to see more than 1,000 children. And our visits are far from over -- while our total is 34, we still have nearly half of those runs left between today and Christmas Eve.

Arriving on the bumper of our Engine 22-3 or Rescue 22, Santa comes with flashing emergency lights and sirens to the delight of children young and old. Family pictures are taken -- many families telling us they have an annual picture with Santa on a WGFC truck going back ten years or more! The WGFC Santa visits are also the centerpiece of many community gatherings -- like those at Walnut Glen and the Estates of London Brook -- bringing together neighbors and friends in celebration of the holidays. Santa also visits organizations too, at places like the Assumption BVM School, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, and the Methodist Church in West Grove.

Santa knows where all the boys and girls are, but he gets some help from the WGFC for his schedule in Avon Grove. Communities and residents can request a Santa visit at our website at this address: http://www.wgfc.org/apps/public/database/formAdd.cfm?Form_ID=7 Santa's schedule is full for 2018, but that web form can be used to schedule 2019 and beyond.

We also thank the community for their support of the WGFC - donations during Santa runs have surpassed $1,500 so far this year. We thank you for your generosity. For our WGFC staff and Santa volunteers, this time of year is special, and we look forward to escorting Captain Ho Ho Ho on our fire trucks right up until Christmas Eve!

Units: Rescue 22 and Engine 22-3
