WGFC Assists Oxford on Early Morning House Fire
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Secretary Bill Wohl
August 11, 2019

Units from the West Grove Fire Company and other area companies assisted the Union Fire Company of Oxford on a fire at a home in Lower Oxford Township on August 11.

The Chester County 911 Center dispatched the house fire at 2:14 am on Hall Road, near Lincoln University. Dispatch reports indicated a possible electrical fire inside the garage.

PA State Police units were first on scene with smoke showing and the residents evacuated.

Oxford units went on scene with a fire in the garage and smoke condition in the house, requested a "working fire dispatch." A working fire dispatch directs the 911 Center to provide the incident with a range of emergency equipment to fire scenes, including additional fire fighters, a medic unit, a rapid intervention team (RIT), and others -- this provides for a standard response for incidents involving fire (and simplifies the decision work for on scene officers and dispatchers).

The arriving first in units from Oxford stretched attack lines to the house. Assisting them were crews from West Grove Engine 22-2, Rescue 22 and Engine 22-3, along with Tanker 22. Also on scene were units from the Cochranville Fire Company and Medic 94.

The small fire in the garage was quickly placed under control, with firefighters checking for fire extension and helping to get smoke out of the residence. Additional responding units were returned.

Units were on the scene for about one hour. There were no reported injuries.

Units: Engines 22-2 and 22-3, Tanker 22, Rescue 22

Mutual Aid: Units from Oxford, Cochranville and Medic 94, as well as the PA State Police
