West Grove Fire Company pagers alerted for a fire in an outbuilding just before 2pm on Saturday. Fire was reported on Flint Hill Road, just below Route 896. Also dispatched were mutual aid companies, including Aetna of Newark, Avondale and Hockessin.
The WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, Engine 22-2, Engine 22-3, Tanker 22, Ladder 22, Squad 22 and fire police. Reports indicated a well off 20x30 shed. During the response, Chief 22 added two additional tankers to the call. Engine 22-3 from the nearby station in London Britain arrived and stretched a 300' preconnect attack line, assisted by crews arriving from Newark and Engine 22-1. Engine 22-3 was then supplied by Tanker 22, with approximately 1,500 gallons of water utilized.
With water on the fire, the incident was scaled back, with 22 and 23 crews pulling apart the debris and hosing down hot spots. The scene was turned over to the county fire marshal, and PA State Police after about an hour.
