Brush Fire & Crash Keep WGFC Busy Saturday Evening
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

March 15, 2020

West Grove Fire Company crews were busy Saturday evening when calls in New London and Penn Township occurred at the same time.

The first call was for a reported brush fire along Route 896 south of State Road in New London. Responding units were advised of a controlled burn possibly extending out of control. Brush 22 responded, along with Engines 22-1 and 3. Crews had challenges finding and accessing the small brush fire. Also on scene were Utility 22 and both ambulances.

Residents are reminded to determine local policies on burning, report planned burns, always have a water source available to control the fire, never burn at night (as these fires are seen from great distance and often generate 911 calls), and never leave burns unattended.

During the brush fire call, a motor vehicle crash was reported on Old Baltimore Pike in Penn Township. Engine 22-3, an ambulance, and Utility 22 responded from the New London call to investigate. The county radio room reported the call as with no injuries, but units continued their response.

Engine 22-3 arrived to find a two vehicle crash, with both units partially blocking Old Baltimore Pike. The crews worked with fire police to maintain a single lane of traffic, and assisted the ambulance in evaluating five patients. One injured party was transported to Jennersville Hospital.

Units: Engine 22-3, WGFC Ambulance, Fire Police

Mutual Aid: PA State Police
