WGFC Assists Avondale on 2-Alarm House Fire |
May 30, 2023 | |
The West Grove Fire Company joined fire companies from across southern Chester County at a house fire in New Garden Township Tuesday morning. At approximately 9am, the Avondale Fire Company was alerted for a fire alarm on Jason Court. That quickly was upgraded to a house fire as calls continued to come into the Chester County 911 Center. A working fire dispatch was added when first arriving units reported heavy fire. Ultimately, the call was upgraded to a "working fire" call and then to two alarms, bringing fire company resources to battle the blaze that extended throughout the large residence. Even as the call was placed under control an hour later, two additional engine crews were requested to come into the scene to assist with overhaul and to give first-in crews a break. The WGFC responded with Engine 22-2, Engine 22-1 and Tanker 22, with units on the scene for about two hours. The house was a near total loss, with no injuries reported. The WGFC thanks the Kinzer Fire Company of Lancaster County for standing by at Station 22 to cover the district. Thanks to the Avondale Fire Company and others for photos. |
