Excessive Heat Advisory -- A Safety Message

The National Weather Service has again issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area today (and another heat wave is predicted in the days ahead):

..HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 AM EDT TUESDAY... ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING...

WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 104 expected. For the Excessive Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 109 possible.

WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania.

WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from 10 AM this morning to 6 AM EDT Tuesday. For the Excessive Heat Watch, from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening.

IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.

The WGFC urges caution in these conditions and reminds all that anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
