Fire companies from across Chester County and parts of Lancaster County worked together to handle a house fire on Little Elk Creek Road in East Nottingham Township on Monday afternoon.

Just past 1:00pm, the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Union Fire Company of Oxford for a reported house fire.

Arriving units from Oxford, Avondale, Kennett Square, Longwood and other area companies all were involved in the fire operations. Of particular note was the water supply operation which initially involved tankers, and then Kennett and Longwood companies completed a nearly 4,000 foot supply line from a hydrant on Oxford Road in New London Township where Engine 23 (Avondale) was filling tankers and handled the hydrant.

Crews were on scene for about four hours. Thanks to those companies from across Chester, Lancaster, New Castle and Delaware Counties that served as standby companies in various firehouses during the incident.
