Back to back and sequential calls have defined a busy two months for West Grove Fire Company. Such was the case this Wednesday morning when two vehicle crashes started the day.
WGFC was first dispatched at 7:15am for a crash on West Woodview Road at Ewing Road in London Grove Township. While reported as a simple two-vehicle crash, arriving first responders added a paramedic from Medic 94 and used a hydraulic rescue tool to pop a vehicle door to help remove a patient. Engine 22-1, Squad 22, Ambulances 1 & 2, Medic 94 and WGFC fire police handled the call that sent two victims to the hospital.
As that call was wrapping up, Chester County 911 Center reported a second crash in Franklin Township. At 8:05am, the company was dispatched to a reported two vehicle crash on Route 896 and Scotts Glen Road. Squad 22 and Engine 22-1 responded from the scene of the first call, with Engine 22-3 responding from its station in London Britain Township. There WGFC units found a blocked highway and two heavily damaged vehicles. Crews had to navigate clogged traffic, and WGFC units had to block Route 896 until the incident could be cleared. One patient was transported by Avondale's ambulance to the hospital.
WGFC units cleared all calls just before 9:00am. |
