Annual Middle School Egg Drop

April 12, 2025

With spring comes the annual Egg Drop event at the AG Middle School and, once again this year, the West Grove Fire Company participated.

Eighth grade students are assigned to try to construct a way to protect an egg from a long fall. Students wrap eggs in foam, bubble wrap, boxes and all kinds of combinations of materials. The project entries are then taken to the top of the WGFC's Ladder 22 and dropped from more than 50' high. Some eggs survive the drop, others splatter spectacularly.

Dozens of students assembled outside next to the gymnasium to watch the proceedings, with Lt. Skyler Benasutti making his way to the top of Ladder 22.

Many lessons were learned about physics and the art of a soft landing, and the WGFC was proud to be part of this school tradition.
