Light the Night to Honor Fallen Firefighters

April 12, 2025

Every year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation sponsors the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the official national tribute to those firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year.

In 2017, the Foundation created Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters to recognize the 25th anniversary of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Since then, Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters has expanded to include fire departments and families lighting their homes in red.

As dusk turns to dark, landmarks, homes, fire service organizations, and businesses across the country will again glow in respect this year, April 27-May 4, 2025 for the fallen and their families.

The West Grove Fire Company honors member Raymond Walker who lost his life in the line of duty in 1928 fighting a fire at a lumber yard in Toughkenamon. We honor Firefighter Walker along with other heroes that will be honored during the NFFF 2025Memorial Weekend. Join with the WGFC and its members in adding a red light to your home. And, if you do light your home in red then please register it with NFFF on the attached link so the West Grove area can fill in on the map.
