On Monday, February 27, 2012 The West Grove Fire Company Volunteers finished up a two night annual Hazardous Material Operations refresher given by the Chester County Haz-Mat Team.
The first training night was held on Monday February 13, 2012 at station 22 and focused on the Awareness level of Hazardous materials. Lecture incorporated recognizing vehicle placards as well as teaching first responders how to utilize the Hazardous Materials Emergency Guide book located in all our WGFC apparatus.
The second training night focused on the operational aspects of Hazardous Materials. Attention was placed on working together with the County Haz-Mat team in mitigating an emergency incident within the WGFC local. The Haz-Mat team reviewed damming, diking, and diverting techniques in regards to spills as well as specialized gas monitoring devices used by the team.
A special thanks goes out to the Chester County Haz-Mat Team for coming to West Grove and putting on a great two-night refresher program. |
