The West Grove Fire Company is proud to announce that volunteer firefighter Maggie L. Weir of Landenberg has graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Maggie is part of a family active in the WGFC. Father Ron is a past ambulance line officer, Life Member, and firefighter. Brother Austin is also a volunteer firefighter, with all three running out of the London Britain station. We congratulate Ron and his wife Tracey on Maggie's graduation.
The U.S. Military Academy at West Point's mission is "to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army." Graduates then enter service in the US Army as commissioned officers. Maggie will serve in the military police where she intends to make her lifelong career in the US Army.
To attend one of the country's service academy's requires nomination by the US Senate. Maggie's accomplishment is an honor for her family, for the fire company, for the Avon Grove community, and for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All of us at the WGFC honor her accomplishments at West Point and her service to our nation. |
