The West Grove Fire Company and area fire departments were sent to Exchange Place in West Grove Borough Monday afternoon for a reported building fire at Brother's Pizza.
The Chester County 911 Center dispatched the WGFC at 3:02 pm, reporting trash and a bicycle on fire up against the building at 7 Exchange Place. An additional caller reached the 911 Center and said the building appeared to be on fire. With that information, Chief 22 upgraded the incident and the ensuing dispatch added units from the Avondale, Cochranville, Oxford, Longwood and Kennett Square fire companies.
Engine 22-1, from the West Grove Station responded quickly, arriving on location and laying a supply line from the hydrant at intersection of Railroad Avenue and Exchange Place. Crews advanced a 1-3/4" attack line and quickly extinguished the trash container and adjacent bicycle which were on fire at the front corner of the building. Due to the brick exterior of the building, the fire was prevented from doing major damage, with WGFC crews checking the interior and area for any fire extension. Ladder 22, Engine 22-2, and Rescue 22, along with the ambulance and fire police were on scene.
With the quick knock down of the fire, the incident was reduced to the West Grove units.
