A mobile home fire on Christmas Day drew a multi-company response in southern Chester County.
The dispatch, at 10:30am, was for a fire in a cooking stove on the porch of a mobile home on Pemberton Road in New Garden Township. Units from Avondale, West Grove, Kennett Square, Longwood, Po-Mar-Lin and Hockessin were requested.
Avondale Engine 23-2 arrived to make an attack with heavy fire in the trailer home. They were assisted by multiple crews in knocking down the fire, with the WGFC sending two fire engines -- Engines 22-1 and 22-2, with crews assisting in overhaul.
Great work by the first in crew who were able to quickly carry out stacks of Christmas presents hopefully salvaging some Christmas for the family. The family was in the process of moving so there were minimal possessions in the home.
Units were on scene for about 90 minutes in very cold conditions. |
