Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

January 5, 2023

Fire companies from across southern Chester County and Lancaster County were dispatched just before 8am for an explosion in Londonderry Township on January 3. A loud boom was heard from West Grove across to Oxford and Cochranville, with the 911 Call Center getting reports of a travel trailer explosion near the intersection of Routes 41 and 926.

In the initial dispatch, Cochranville Fire Company 27 was alerted, assisted by the Union Fire Company of Oxford 21, West Grove Fire Company 22, Modena 37, Lancaster County's Christiana 52, Avondale 23, Po-Mar-Lin (Unionville) 36, and Longwood 25. EMS units from West Grove and Medic 94 were also included.

Reports indicated that there were subjects trapped and it was a possible gas explosion. EMS units arrived initially to report an explosion but no fire and worked to render care. Two patients were identified, one of which was transported to the Crozer Burn Center by WGFC ambulance with Medic 94 aboard.

Ladder 22's crew assisted firefighters from Cochranville to also assist two additional persons to get of an adjacent trailer who were uninjured but couldn't free themselves due to damage from the blast.
