The winds from the North and East are driving smoke from a raging wildfire in Canada's Nova Scotia province down into the northeastern United States, including areas of Pennsylvania.
The Chester County 9-1-1 Center has received numerous calls over the past day regarding a haze and electrical odor in the air throughout various locations countywide.
In consultation with the National Weather Service, they have confirmed that this condition is being caused by smoke particles drifting south from the wildfires currently in Nova Scotia, Canada, along with easterly winds off the ocean.
There is no environmental hazard regarding air quality, but they do expect this condition to persist through the overnight and into tomorrow, Tuesday, 5/30, or until the winds shift direction.
