The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for a possible house fire in New London Township Thursday afternoon, an emergency call that wound up being a fire in a generator installed behind the residence.
West Grove units were dispatched at 1:18pm, along with units from the Union Fire Company of Oxford, as well as the Avondale, Cochranville, and Rising Sun fire companies for a reported house on fire on Wayside Lane, located near the intersection of Route 841 and Lewisville Road. WGFC responded with Ladder 22, Engine 22-2, Engine 22-3, Tanker 22, Ambulances 22-2 and -3, and fire police.
Engines 2 and 3 arrived together to find a "whole-house," propane fed generator at the rear of the home which had been on fire. The resident and service workers on scene had put out the initial fire with fire extinguishers prior the fire company's arrival. A 300' attack hose line was stretched from Engine 22-2 but was not needed. Crews used thermal imaging cameras to make sure there was no fire spread to the deck above the generator nor into the house, and the rest of the assignment was recalled.
