Area fire companies were dispatched on a hot Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:00pm for a reported house on fire in the middle of West Grove borough. The West Grove Fire Company responded with Engine 22-1, Ladder 22, Rescue 22 and the ambulances. Units from Avondale 23, Union of Oxford 21 and Longwood 25 were also dispatched.
Area police went on location with a fire reported out. Engine 22-1 arrived quickly from the nearby firehouse and reported smoke at the front of the residence. Ladder 22 and the Engine set up in front of the residence on Rosehill Road across from the Borough Hall. Crews discovered that there had been a small fire on the front porch, and used a booster reel line to complete extinguishment. Crews used saws and hand tools to open up the porch floor and adjacent wall to assure there had been no further fire spread.
The call was held to the WGFC units, with West Grove units clearing the scene after about 90 minutes.
