West Grove Fire Company units were dispatched to assist the Cochranville Fire Company on Saturday on a reported building fire in Londonderry Township.
First dispatched for a building fire at Houghton Enterprise on Street Road off of Route 41, the call was upgraded to a barn fire a few minutes later. The WGFC's Engine 22-1 was the second due engine, Ladder 22 was first due "special" -- first in ladder assignment and Tanker 22 provided the initial water supply to the scene. Chief 22 assisted by running command.
WGFC first responders assisted with the firefight on the barn which was a total loss and interior firefighting in an adjacent apartment building that helped contain the fire spread there. Units were on the scene for approximately two hours.
