West Grove firefighters were called to assist the Avondale Fire Company on Tuesday for a reported house fire in New Garden Township.
The call on Baltimore Pike was first reported as a house fire. First responders found fire on the second floor and in the attic in a house-like structure that was a commercial business. WGFC responded with Ladder 22, Squad 22, an ambulance and Utility. Ladder 22 operated as the second due "special services" unit, with crews opening up the roof, and Squad 22's crew stood by in the manpower pool. WGFC also had an engine crew in West Grove if needed.
Firefighters battled this fire from inside the building and up on the roof.
Ladder 22's crew opens up the roof.
Ladder 22's crew operates on the roof of this New Garden Township business whose attic and second floor were damaged by fire on Tuesday.
Ladder 24 operates at the scene.
Ladder 22 is set up to provide access to the roof to vent the fire in the attic. Venting removes heat and smoke to create a safer environment in the building for firefighters operating inside.
